How To Use Our Garage Defenders Correctly

At Image4Secruity, we harp on about garage and shed security all the time, but we’ll reiterate here how integral it is to have your garage as secure as possible, especially If you’re keeping your vehicles in there. In fact, 1 in 5 UK house burglaries enters through the garage.

The same resource states that 39% of garage theft victims had their bikes stolen, and while this is referencing push bikes, it does highlight how easy it could be for your motorbike to vanish too. Additionally, nearly 1 in 4 victims reported a stolen mower as a result of the break-in.

In 2021/2022 there was an average of 526 burglaries a day, which equates to a house being burgled every 164 seconds. If these figures aren’t persuading you to invest in your garage security, your dog better be a scary one.

If you have been persuaded to invest in your garage and secure it properly, lucky for you we’ve got a load of products to make your garage safer. Our Garage Defenders are impressive, innovative, and made from some of the most durable materials to ensure your garage is kept secure whether you’re in the house or out of it.

Our Defenders are UK designed and manufactured with a powder-coating finish. For the best defence against attack, they are manufactured to be grinder and drill resistant and come with a 10-year guarantee. We produce two types of garage Defenders for various garage door types. Our Defenders come in up & over-door and roller shutter door options.

Below we’ve detailed how to use our garage Defenders correctly, to better secure your garage and your belongings.

Up & Over Door:

  1. Close the garage door and lock it
  2. Take hold of the Defender by the large handle and align the nuggets on the bottom of the defender with the larger keyholes in the floor base plate.
  3. Slide the Defender forwards so that the Defender is flush with the garage door.
  4. Turn the key cover out of the way from the bullet lock hole.
  5. Insert bullet lock into the open hole.
  6. Turn the key 90 degrees left or right.
  7. The bullet lock will slide down the hole into the locked position.
  8. Remove the key and lock the cover.
  9. The defender is now locked in place.

Roller Shutter Door:

  1. The Roller shutter door comes down, lining the door bracket with the floor base plate.
  2. The holes within the door bracket sit over the nuggets in the base plate, once the defender is in the locked position, the door bracket cannot be lifted.
  3. Take hold of the Defender by the large handle and align the nuggets on the bottom of the defender with the larger keyholes in the floor base plate.
  4. Slide the Defender forwards so that the Defender is flush with the garage door.
  5. Turn the key cover out of the way from the bullet lock hole.
  6. Insert bullet lock into the open hole.
  7. Turn the key 90 degrees left or right.
  8. The bullet lock will slide down the hole into the locked position.
  9. Remove the key and lock the cover.
  10. The defender is now locked in place.

Aside from a garage defender, you should be using other security products to lock up your garage and avoid your goods being stolen. Our Guardsman garage barrier sits inside the garage and prohibits anyone from wheeling anything out of the garage. The Guardsman also has fitted anchor points to secure your bike or anything else.

Additionally, you should have a good locking system and some kind of alarm system to trigger and alert you if your garage is being broken into. Other useful kit includes security lights such as motion sensor lights.
