Security Chains

Security Chains are an excellent investment for motorbike and bike security. You can use them at home or on the go, giving you peace of mind that your vehicle is safe and protected wherever you are.

Securing your bike to a lamp post or other solid, immovable fixture prevents it from being easily wheeled off and carried away. Security chains can be bought to be used with ground anchors, or even teamed with a garage security barrier such as the Guardsman, which comes with anchor points for chains.

We believe that the best form of security is lots of it. We encourage ‘layering’ your security products at every opportunity to give the best chance of keeping your vehicles safe against theft attempts.

FAQs

The Guardsman 20mm diameter security chain is the strongest security chain on the market when compared like-for-like. The reason for this is the carbon alloy makes up the chain links which makes it incredibly tough to grind. The carbon element disintegrates the grinder blade as it rotates and therefore increases the time taken to grind through the chain link. The noise generated by such an attack can be heard up to 500 meters away.

Another point to make here is that any chain with a link diameter of more than 14mm will not be cut with bolt croppers by hand as the jaws are too small to accept the chain link, so we always recommend them.

We also offer an alarm self-locking chain which is super handy for when you’re out and about and can’t afford to carry around a seriously large chain. The anti-theft alarm is triggered when tampered making this chain fantastic at deterring the would-be criminal.

Generally, a security chain is easy to fit. It is used in conjunction with an immovable object such as a motorbike ground anchor and padlock. The owner passes the security chain through one of the wheels of their motorbike, through the ground anchor, and using the padlock to secure the chain ends. The security chain can be used to secure an array of items or vehicles from motorbikes, bicycles, quadbikes, tools, and more.

We also offer an alarmed self-locking chain which is super handy for when you’re out and about and can’t afford to carry around a large chain. The anti-theft alarm is triggered when tampered making this chain fantastic at deterring the would-be criminal. This allows the user to secure their motorbike to an immovable object such as a lamppost when away from the home.

With bike theft on the rise with over 40,000 motorbikes stolen every year, securing your bike is vitally important in order to avoid becoming an ever-increasing crime statistic.

Security is all about layers and a good quality security chain should be used in conjunction with other security devices to prevent your motorbike from being stolen. The security chain increases the time, tools, and noise needed to break through it buying you valuable time to act.

When you are out and about on your motorbike or bicycle, security is even more important as you are at your most vulnerable. Often you have limited space to carry heavy, high-security chains and padlocks.

We would recommend carrying as big a chain as possible and securing this to an immovable object such as a lamppost or anchor point. Other options to consider are our range of alarmed locks including disc locks, grip locks, and alarmed self-locking chains which are lightweight and easy to carry around in a top box.

As always, the more layers you can afford to carry with you and use the better.

When at your home in your garage, you must consider investing in a heavy-duty ground anchor such as our Apex Pro Sold Secure diamond motorbike ground anchor to use as an anchoring point to pass your security chain through and to your motorbike. This gives a fantastic physical layer of defence against the would-be thief.
